We are commanded to throw off anything that hinders us and entangles us in sin. We are to run our own race that has been marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and the perfecter of faith. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, endured the cross, scorning its shame and then sat down at the right hand of the throne of God, so that we would not grow weary and lose heart. We should be reminded everyday of our lives that when we struggle in sin, we none have not yet resisted to the point of shedding our blood as Jesus did. The Lord disciplines those that He loves and encourages us to endure hardship. In order that we may share in His holiness, He disciplines us for our own good. It can be very painful, but it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained in it. Thank God for the great cloud of witnesses and the encouragement that we have been given to persevere, to remain faithful and never give up. Hebrews 12:1-2, “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
